A base for the valley

Stay here, then choose your mountain day.

Glacier 3000 · Villars · Leysin · Gstaad · Lac Retaud

Les Diablerets is a useful base because the best days are close, but not all the same. You can ski, ride a cable car, swim in a mountain lake, visit a museum, go to Gstaad for lunch or take a train down through the valley.

Approximate journeys

Glacier 3000 is about 8–10 minutes by car, Villars about 15 minutes, Leysin about 20 minutes, Gstaad about 30 minutes and Geneva about 1.5 hours. Allow more time in winter or during busy periods.

Mountain adventure

Glacier 3000 is about 8 minutes from the village by car. Go up for Peak Walk, Glacier Walk, the snow park, high-altitude restaurants and, in summer, the Alpine Coaster.

Easy family day

Take the road towards Lac Retaud for a short walk around the lake and lunch beside the water. In summer, the lake also has stand-up paddling on selected guest-card offers.

For a bit of adrenaline

Local operators offer paragliding, canyoning, via ferrata and climbing. The Parc des Diables treetop courses start from age 4, so younger children can join the fun too.

Rain or a slower afternoon

Walk the village and the La Grande Eau river, visit the Musée des Ormonts in Vers-l'Eglise, or take the historic ASD train towards Aigle. Save a proper raclette or fondue for the evening.

Across the area

Villars and Gryon bring different lifts, lake walks and restaurants. Leysin is a good alternative family ski day. Gstaad is a change of scene for cafés, shops and lunch across the pass.

Winter classic

The Les Diablerets sled run is about 7.5 km and can run in the evening as well as during the day. Opening times and sledge hire change, so check TVGD before promising it to the children.

Travel details

Arrive easily, then keep the plans flexible.

The station is around a 13-minute uphill walk from the homes. A taxi is easier with luggage. In winter, use proper tyres and carry chains if conditions require them. For current buses, lifts and activity openings, use the official transport page and the linked local sources.
